I live at Glidden, but grew up east of Churdan. Did your grandfather live west of Churdan, and south of Hyde Park? I find this facinating, as it is a history of that time and area. He speaks of riding his “wheels” to different places. Do you think that would have been a buck board, buggy, or something horse drawn? I’ll look forward to reading this Sarah. The Bolton farm was halfway between the Churdan corner and Hyde Park, on he West side of the road.
In the upcoming entries, you will hear him talk about the”Forty”. That is the solid timber area where Larry Gute has his A-frame house. There was only 1/2 acre of tillable farm land on it, and we used to farm that 1/2 acre. The A-frame house that’s visible from the road sits on that half-acre. The original set of buildings were across the small stream south of the new house (with the spiral chimney) built by Dan Janssen.
