Tonight someone who is drunk is talking over the (telephone party) line.
A fine day but showery.
Pa and Frank began to shear the sheep today.
Harve covered the late potatoes this P.M.
I finished planting the North Bottom field this forenoon and spent the afternoon on the South Bottom.
Received a letter from (cousin) Rosa Harvey today.
Hogs were bringing $6.50 (per hundredweight, 65¢ a pound, live weight) in Churdan today.
A very cool day, uncomfortable to work.
Started the planter today, planting the brush ground south.
Started on the North Bottom this P.M. but broke the checkrower and had to stop and repair it.
Planted nearly eight rows of potatoes on the brush.
The minister and his wife were up here today.
A fine day but cool: It is best for work, tho not so good for growth,
Myrtle is much quieter this evening.
Our early potatoes were finished.
Have been plowing all day. Stirred up the patch for early potatoes which Pa was at the planting of Mon.
Abby Myrtle and I went to Jefferson; returned in the evening thro the rain as it rained all afternoon.
Grass is good and the cattle are doing fine.
I finished the corn in the west crib this evening.
Settled up the telephone biz tonight paid Moore $15 on phone.
A good day but a strong wind has blown all day from the South East.
Harve has been laid up all day yesterday and today with a lame back.
Our phone was put in this afternoon.
The old folk went to Rockwell city tonight.
A model spring day and the grass is growing splendidly.
I am starting the plough on the piece which I broke last spring.
The first lamb came this morning.
Harve sowed the west slope of the hill field today.
Today was held the Rep’s caucus, a rather tame affair, and little interest evinced.
The delegates named from Cedar (Township) are for J. P. Miller, but most of the County (Greene) seem to be of a different opinion.
We got a fine rain last night which was much needed as the ground had become quite dry and grass was growing slow in consequence.
We ran sheep into the lot this morning but they kicked out at noon.
We have three litters of young pigs aggregating fourteen.
The wind is blowing wild tonight and fitful showers are falling tho almost blown to a mist.
Henry’s phone was put in yesterday.
Our walnut set not yet arrived.
April 21, Monday
I went down to Hexie (creek) this A.M. and straightened up the fence which had been torn down last winter by wood haulers.
On running a line on the south, we found that we had been pasturing some of the neighbor’s land.
This afternoon I drove over to Harve’s and took his brick which I brot out from town Saturday. 250 (count of bricks.)
Spent most of the afternoon stretching wire on the sheep lot.
The weather continues very dry.
Had to quit one wagon- loose tires.
Awful windy.
